Shooting with this manual focus lens has been much more fun than I expected. The bokeh at maximum aperture is just brutal, in the best way possible; it gives the images a really cinematic look, which other buyers also seem to love. I use it frequently for video, and while you definitely need to get used to the manual focusing process—I find using MF assist and peaking absolutely crucial—the results are sharp even wide open at f/1.4.
For those using it on Canon RF systems, like on the R10, users have noted it’s small and light, though you must adapt to the non-clicking aperture ring placement near the front. I was pleasantly surprised that the package came with goodies too, like a UV filter and a cleaning kit, which added even more value to the initial purchase.
If you are a beginner photographer or even an experienced shooter looking for a fun, fast prime lens for video or stills and don't mind embracing manual focus, I highly recommend this glass. It’s lightweight, exceptionally built, and delivers fantastic results. If you’re looking for quality optics with a stunning shallow depth of field without emptying your wallet, this 7artisans 35mm F1.4 Mark II is an amazing option.
